Team Champaign proudly rides in the Cycle Across Illinois benefiting Illinois Concerns of Police Survivors (IL COPS).
Our team is made up of Matt Oberheim, Greg Oberheim, Greg’s daughter, Emerson, and Lieutenants Kaitlin Fisher Katherine Thompson. Together, we ride representing not only our department and community, but also the enduring love and legacy of Christopher Oberheim.
For Matt, Greg, and Emerson, this ride is deeply personal. Matt and Greg are Christopher’s brothers, and Emerson is Christopher’s niece. They ride to honor a beloved brother and uncle whose life and service continue to inspire us every day. For the rest of us, Chris was more than a coworker — he was a friend, a teammate, and a hero whose loss forever changed our department.
Team Champaign represents family — both by blood and by badge. We ride to remember Chris, to support his family, and to stand alongside all families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty. Through every mile, we carry his memory with us.
