It will look a little (ok, a lot) different this year - but Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County is preparing for Women Build 2021! We hope you'll join us!
We'll be working together to fundraise to support the construction of a new home in Belle Glade for Mary Bridges and her family.
About the Family
Mary was born and raised in Belle Glade. She retired as a Correctional Officer with the Florida Department of Corrections and serves as an Ordained Elder at Straightway Church. Mary is the custodial guardian of four elementary school-aged children, Joseph (11), Arniyah (9), Ruth (7), and Isabella (6) in addition to 25-year-old Ricky. The house will be crowded and happy as they grow up together; Mary is looking forward to seeing the children play in their own backyard.
Looking Forward
Unfortunately, COVID has - for now - robbed us of the opportunity to build together so we're going to have to find new and different ways to come together and share the stories of hope that come from having a safe, affordable home.
We will be celebrating Women Build in the week of March 8, which kicks off with International Women's Day. We already have a couple of fun activities planned for team leaders and participants.

Tuesday, March 9 - Happy Hour With the Homeowners - A (virtual of course) panel discussion with Tara Okler, Director of Family Services, and several Habitat homeowners. This will be a chance to get life updates from some of the families you've met through your years of Women Build participation. Learn about the Habitat education process and how some special women are seeing life through a new lens now that they are homeowners. This event is free.

Thursday, March 11 - Sign up to participate in a fun virtual DIY workshop. You'll have a chance to choose your own design and create a unique piece to remind you of the value of home. Tickets are $42, and include all materials plus link to attend live workshop.

Saturday, March 13 - To close out Women Build week, we will be celebrating at our temporary ReStore in Riviera Beach on Saturday from 11am to 3pm. This is a great time to clear out your garage and give those unwanted items new life and support affordable housing. There will be prizes as well as a Chik-Fil-A food truck. The store is located at 7700 N. Military Trail, Riviera Beach, 33410
