Pride and humility fill our hearts. We increased our fundraiser goal twice because you and 77 other generous donors believe in the work of the Non-Violent Medicaid Army (NVMA), in the need to create leaders from the ranks of the poor to fundamentally change our society. Together we raised over $7300: THANK YOU! With your support, we carried forward our mini-brigade to the Caribbean, to continue building the NVMA’s working class internationalism.
While the situation on the ground there grows worse by the day, due primarily to U.S sanctions and economic warfare, on top of a devastating hurricane fed by a capitalism-driven climate crisis, we experienced the resilience of a people who continue to defend and live for a truly just society. From young medical students to elder church parishioners to popular educators to doctors in the front lines of research under blockade, we returned inspired in our fight for healthcare as a human right.
Our hosts were likewise inspired by the NVMA, and many expressed surprise in the contrast of our story to that of the “American Dream”.
Your gift also allows the NVMA to organize internally in the U.S. After a successful National Day of Action in September, we are holding monthly educational spaces to analyze our political context and hone-in the development of our members. Desde jóvenes estudiantes de medicina hasta ancianos feligreses, educadores populares y médicos en la primera línea de la investigación bajo bloqueo, regresamos inspirados en nuestra lucha por la atención médica como un derecho humano.
Nuestros anfitriones también se sintieron inspirados por el NVMA, y muchos expresaron su sorpresa ante el contraste entre nuestra historia y la del "sueño americano".
Su donación también permite que el NVMA se organice internamente en Estados Unidos. Después de una exitosa Jornada Nacional de Acción en septiembre, estamos realizando espacios educativos mensuales para analizar nuestro contexto político y fortalecer el desarrollo de nuestros miembros.
