Just minutes after the last update to raise funds for a THIRD ballistic K9 vest in Memory of Ty, we received a pledge of $1100. Â This incredible donation will allow three vests, two for the Santa Paula K9s and one for another K9 in need. Â EFFORTS will continue through MIDNIGHT TONIGHT Pacific Time to vest additional K9s in memory of California City's fallen K9 Ty. Â Thanks so much to everyone for their continued support.
Did you know that in most cases, law enforcement agencies do not have budgets to provide vests for their four-legged K-9 officers? Â They are often first on the scene in the most dangerous situations. Â The K-9 goes in first, they are the first responder and they deserve to have the vest just like their human partner.
** K9 Django of the Santa Paula Police Department is a 2 year old German Shepherd certified in Patrol. He is assigned to Officer Daniel Gosselin. In 2016, they completed over 200 hours of training. Â Django likes going for runs, playing tug-o-war, interacting with the public and is always looking forward to training days. Â K9 Django is pictured here in his favorite shades.
** K9 Ace is a 4 year old German Shepherd certified in Patrol and Narcotics work and he is assigned to Senior Officer Allen Macias. K9 Ace was purchased in Germany and becamea member of the Santa Paula, CA Police Department in February 2016.  They completed over 200 hours of training together.  Ace has a very strong work ethic and loves playing with his toys.  He has been of valuable service to the Santa Paula, CA. Police Department and is always looking forward to training days. Â
We can help provide these potentially life-saving vests to protect K9s Django and Ace in the line of duty. Â These K9s protect the community every day and time is of the essence. Â Every donation, big or small, will make a difference.Â
Should we exceed our goal, the additional funds will be used to help protect another K9 in need of a ballistic vest.
All vests will be donated in memory of K9 Ty of California City, who died in the line of duty in September as a result of a work sustained injury. Â Each awarded vest will bear the embroidery, Â "In memory of K9 Ty, California City, CA.
