Creating Survivors is: an IRS-501(c)3; mental health and suicide prevention; charity. Our mission is to help young people overcome adversity.

We started in 2011 as just an idea a 19-year-old had to help other young people afford counseling – his counseling throughout high school was paid for by a mentor of his; that was the only reason he could afford to get the help he needed.

In 2013, Creating Survivors was incorporated and in 2015 received official tax-exempt, 501(c)3 charity status.

By 2017, Creating Survivors had achieved huge progress. In a population of nearly 20,000 young people: we reduced the cost of mental health services for those young people by 90%; while we built the structure for a sustainable and now operating mental health peer-support program that is open to chat when doctors and providers are not. But first, we instituted, in institutions of higher learning, a body of patients, clinicians, and policy makers that continually and now proven effectively: monitor; update; and constantly improve mental health services for the whole community.

In 2018 Creating Survivors became bicoastal with operations in Washington, D.C. and California. For 2020, we have plans of expanding into New York.
