Food Lifeline

Food Lifeline’s mission is to feed people experiencing hunger today while working to end hunger for tomorrow.

Food Lifeline sources and distributes culturally relevant foods to more than 328 partner agencies (food banks, meal programs, shelters) to reach the more than 1.5 million people currently experiencing hunger in western Washington.  Serving 17 counties, Food Lifeline distributes the equivalent of 233,457 meals each day. Similarly, Food Lifeline actively partners with these same communities to co-create programs that remove barriers to food insecurity.  These programs are often bundled with other services and agencies to build a community-led movement to end hunger.  Finally, Food Lifeline activates a network of allies and advocates to help shape policy and legislation that address the systemic root causes of hunger.

DIVERSITY AND EQUITY 

Food Lifeline is a food justice organization.  We recognize that hunger and food insecurity are complex and inextricably linked to poverty and its root causes, which include systemic racism, and social injustice. It is not enough to provide food today. To solve hunger, we must collaboratively develop transformational partnerships with our community of stakeholders, donors, volunteers, affinity organizations, and most importantly people with lived experiences of hunger. We believe in the power and necessity of collectively and radically changing the systems, programs, and practices that cause and perpetuate and profit from food insecurity and hunger in our communities.
