Grandma’s House Childcare & Family Center is a nonprofit community family support organization serving families in Lee County, Mississippi.

We believe something as temporary as a difficult week, an unexpected bill, or a childcare tuition shortage should not have to put a parent’s job or a child’s stability at risk.

That belief is at the heart of our newest initiative:

Keeping Families Working: A Childcare Stability Initiative

This initiative is being developed as a six-month Lee County pilot to provide temporary childcare tuition assistance for eligible working families experiencing a documented short-term hardship. Approved assistance will be paid directly to participating licensed childcare providers, helping children remain enrolled while their parents continue working.

Families may be referred by a participating childcare provider or contact Grandma’s House directly. Eligibility and childcare enrollment will be verified before assistance is approved, and support will depend on available funding.

Our work goes beyond childcare stability.

Through our programs and community partnerships, Grandma’s House also provides:

📚 The Word Garden — literacy support that encourages children and families to grow through reading and learning.

🚐 Village Wheels — transportation support designed to help families overcome transportation barriers.

👕 Grandma’s Closet — clothing, essentials, and care items for individuals and families experiencing a need.

🧹 Custom Maid — practical cleaning support for families and households experiencing challenging circumstances.

👔 The Ready Room — appearance assistance for job interviews and special occasions.

At the center of all of this is one simple purpose: helping families stay on track.

We work alongside families, childcare providers, businesses, volunteers, and community partners because lasting change does not happen through one organization alone. It takes a village.

Donations to Grandma’s House help strengthen our programs, community outreach, and family support efforts. Gifts designated for the Childcare Stability Initiative will help provide eligible childcare tuition assistance and support the administration of the initiative.
