For 25 years, Missouri River Relief has connected people to the Missouri River through hands-on cleanup, education, and recreation programs across the state.

In the St. Louis region, the Missouri River is more than a backdrop. It is a working river, a historic river, and a gathering place that connects communities across the metro area. From cleanup projects and education programs to paddling access and the MR340 finish line in St. Charles, our work helps people experience the river firsthand and build a lasting connection to it.

Each year, thousands of paddlers, volunteers, students, teachers, and community members engage with the Missouri River through Missouri River Relief programs. Whether welcoming racers and crews into St. Charles at the end of the MR340 or helping families discover the river for the first time, we believe meaningful experiences on the river can change perspectives and strengthen communities.

In 2026, Missouri River Relief celebrates its 25th Anniversary. Since 2001, more than 2 million pounds of trash have been removed from the Missouri River and its tributaries with the help of over 35,000 volunteers. More than 42,000 students and teachers have participated in education programs that bring learning directly to the river.

Support through GiveSTL helps us continue this work across the Missouri River corridor, including the St. Louis region, where the river remains central to the history, ecology, recreation, and identity of our communities.

Together, we are building a future where more people experience a meaningful connection with the Missouri River.
