Anxiety and depression are  rising amongst students in public schools and low-test scores, and decreased graduation rates are prevalent. In efforts to raise academic performance, music and art are limited to once a week in many schools. These necessary electives are replaced with academic interventions in Reading and math, while our students' creativity and exposure to the arts dwindles. Statistics show that students at schools with Music education programs test up to 33% higher on standardized test. In addition, Music can reduce anxiety and depression up to 65%. The S foundation provides balance by marrying Dj and Music production with a Social emotional skills curriculum. That's right, we make well rounded DJ's and music producers from elementary to high school. DJAM currently houses all types of regular Ed students, students with ADHD and Autism. Our amazing student Dj's perform at school pep rallies, ArtWalks, community festivals, and sports events just to name a few. Our parents rave about improved student behavior, self-image, and confidence. Our student's behavior incidents have almost been eliminated in part to our behavior and academic participation contracts. The S Foundation has developed an innovative program marrying DJ & Music Production with "SEL" also known as social Emotional Skills. Our DJ and Music production academy incorporates skills students must learn and apply, to successfully navigate school and life. We simply use music as s a trojan horse, so to speak, to teach, practice, and master skills such as frustration tolerance, task completion, anxiety management, and on task behavior while acquiring DJ and or music production skills to be used in the community. Our vision is to impact our community by increasing student connection and involvement with the local community, their schools, and surrounding areas. We are currently offering the Academy from 3-6 pm, M-F, at Coconut Palm K-8 and a 9-week summer program at 2 additional sites.
