Saving Howler Monkeys Together
The mission of Toucan Rescue Ranch (TRR) is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Costa Rican wildlife. TRR works with a model focusing on conservation, education, and research to ensure a brighter future for native animals.
TRR receives and cares for confiscated, sick, and injured animals from government agencies. The Toucan Rescue Ranch works closely with the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE), bringing injured and displaced wildlife to the center. TRR provides sanctuary while giving treatment, rehabilitation, and eventual release to their natural environment.
The Toucan Rescue Ranch was established in 2004 by Leslie Howle as a rescue center for toucans and other birds. Nonetheless, the rescue center quickly expanded to owls and other wildlife. In 2007, a baby sloth named Millie arrived and was solely in TRR's care. Millie is initially what transformed the Toucan Rescue Ranch into a fully operating multi-species wildlife facility. The Toucan Rescue Ranch has a dedicated team that works alongside interns and volunteers to promise premier quality care for rescued animals.
The Toucan Rescue Ranch spends thousands of dollars monthly to maintain operating costs. Feeding and caring for hundreds of rescued wildlife is an expensive endeavor. This is easily the most important fund to support at TRR! Your donation will also help with veterinary services, medical equipment, enrichment, diets, expansions, enclosures, and so much more!
Toucan Rescue Ranch's monthly operating fund of $50,000 covers various expenses, including staffing salaries, medical costs for the animals under their care, utilities, bills, and other essential operational expenses.
The Toucan Rescue Ranch goes through 1 ton of papaya in just 1-week! This number does not include the bags of green beans, carrots, melon, fish, bananas, plantain, berries, and other foods we prepare for the many different diets at TRR.
The Toucan Rescue Ranch's clinic is a premier wildlife rescue facility with highly experienced veterinarians and medical professionals. This is an essential component of our rehabilitation center. Restocking the various supplies such as syringes, medicine, oxygen, bandage materials, sterilization tools, and much more is both necessary and costly - but by helping with the #PapayaisLife fund, you are directly contributing to our clinic and animal emergencies!
TRR continues to expand, enabling us to rescue and release more rehabilitated wildlife. TRR accepts and cares for roughly 500 animals annually. This fund is what keeps us operating and growing.
As a charitable organization, we are solely supported by donations. Donations provide financial support that directly promotes the health and well-being of animals. We promise that with your support, you're improving the lives of rescued wildlife and the vitality of our rainforests.
