Toucan Rescue Ranch is expanding its environmental education by becoming more accessible!
Toucan Rescue Ranch is working towards revamping our sanctuary by implementing a more accessible pathway for strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers!
At Toucan Rescue Ranch, we want to provide a space where all our visitors can enjoy learning about wildlife! We are raising money to make the sanctuary more accessible by building a wheelchair-accessible pathway better to accommodate our guests, volunteers, and staff.
During this 2022 #TRRShareYourShot Photography contest, we raised $7,398 of our $15,000 goal, including a pathway and educational signs for the sanctuary. The goal was not fully met but means we were halfway to raising funds to build a new pathway in our sanctuary! With the money raised, we are implementing brand-new educational signs around the sanctuary!
Why does the sanctuary need accessible pathways for its guests?
It is essential to be accessible. We understand that we need to accommodate the needs of our visitors, and they are an integral component of the success of our programs and funding throughout the year.
As we grow, we want to grow with the needs of our donors and supporters. This is why it is essential to provide accessibility in our sanctuary and enhance our educational walk with complimentary science-focused signs and a new leveled sustainable pathway for our guests to walk on throughout the sanctuary.
We will be working with BERA Gravel Fix based in Costa Rica! They are an innovative green solution provider working with various organizations nationwide to make sustainable and accessible pathways.
With this innovative technique, Toucan Rescue Ranch will not have the issue of erosion or gravel not staying contained. Plastic fixtures will stabilize the pathway to support equipment such as wheelchairs. This will also be a more stable structure for those with trouble walking on uneven paths. Providing a much safer experience for everyone!
