We hope this finds you healthy and safe. It has certainly been a year like no other.

The devastating coronavirus pandemic forced T.O.T.A. to re-assess its food program mid-March due to the risk to our volunteers who were delivering food right into the arms of struggling families and individuals in low income neighborhoods. The decision to pause direct distribution to families in need was not arrived at easily as our volunteer base is extremely dedicated, with many having served T.O.T.A. for decades.

To keep our food collection and distribution operations going we have shifted our current focus to supporting the Food Bank of Contra Costa County by delivering to them the pallets of meat and other grocery items which are donated to us.

The Food Bank has been overwhelmed by demand and is very grateful for T.O.T.A.’s support.

That brings us to the holidays! We want to continue to support the Food Bank in feeding 270,000 people each month. We also want to support Project Open Hand which provides nutritious meals to the sick and vulnerable in Alameda County.

All the dollars donated to T.O.T.A. will be forwarded to the Food Bank and Project Open Hand to make the holidays happier for those in need.

Here are some Food Bank quick facts:

- It distributes more than 1 million pounds of food each week

- More than half of all the food distributed is fresh produce

- Of every $1.00, $.96 goes directly to food programs
