$7,500 goal
As some of you may know Giving Day for Apes October 15th! ☺ This year we have a goal of $7,500 to raise for the fabulous Projet Gorille Fernan-Vaz, the gorillas in their care, their wonderful local staff and the surrounding rural communities they help support. We would like to get a jump start on this years "Giving Day" and reach out to as many people during the upcoming month🌎. PGFV began in 2001 when gorillas orphaned from the bushmeat trade were transferred to the project on Evengue-Ezango Island. In 2011, it was accredited by the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA). Recently, it has received verification status by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS). Currently, they have 4 gorillas living at their sanctuary on Evengue-Ezango Island and 9 gorillas in two stable groups foraging freely on a separate island (away from human contact) as they await possible release into the wild 🌿. Since January 2019, they have partnered with Four Paws International to help improve their gorilla rehabilitation program 🙌 . Their mission is to conserve great-apes and their habitat, while improving local human livelihoods in Gabon. They strive to take excellent care of the gorillas and work tirelessly on a multidisciplinary approach to conservation through community engagement, biodiversity monitoring🌿 ❤🐘 in collaboration with Chester Zoo , strengthening the local economy 💲 , and promoting environmental awareness through formal community partnerships♻ .
