For more than 45 years, Vocal Point (formerly Georgia Radio Reading Service) has been a lifeline of information and connection for Georgians who are blind, have low vision, or live with print-related disabilities. What began in 1980 as a local reading service has grown into a statewide network—powered by more than 240 dedicated volunteers—broadcasting newspapers, books, magazines, and community stories 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our mission is clear: to empower and enrich the lives of individuals with print-related disabilities through engaging audio content delivered by real people through integrated technology. By transforming the written word into a human voice, we build connection, foster community, and strengthen independence.
At Vocal Point, our work is more than just programming. It’s about people.
Every decision we make is grounded in our I CARE values: Inclusive Community: Creating belonging through resources, events, and culturally diverse programming that reflect the communities we serve.
Accessibility: Breaking down barriers to printed material by ensuring equitable, meaningful, and easy-to-use services.
Respect: Listening to the voices of our audience and making changes driven by their feedback.
Empowerment: Honoring what unites our listeners while celebrating their uniqueness through staff, volunteers, and diverse programming.
These values guide every broadcast, every partnership, and every interaction, ensuring that dignity, representation, and opportunity are always at the center. When you give, you aren’t just supporting a program—you’re sustaining a movement of connection. You fund 24/7 audio programming that keeps thousands of Georgians informed, engaged, and included. You equip and support volunteers who bring stories to life with care and clarity. You provide access to technology like smart speakers and radios that open the door for new listeners across the state. Your support ensures that no one is left out of the conversations, news, and stories that shape our communities. Together, we can amplify voices, expand access, and empower independence for generations to come.
Your gift turns pages into voices, and voices into connection.
We deliver a 24/7 broadcast service that brings newspapers, magazines, books, and community updates in accessible audio formats, ensuring our listeners never miss the news and information that matters most. We equip our community with accessible technology, from smart speakers to portable radios, so that every listener can engage independently with the world around them. Through community programs, outreach initiatives, and partnerships, we foster inclusion, amplify voices, and build supportive networks where everyone feels seen and heard. Every program we create is designed to break barriers, opening doors to education, employment, and meaningful connection.
Last year on Giving Tuesday, our supporters generously contributed $350. While modest in number, this gift made a real difference, sustaining our programs and reminding our listeners that they are valued, seen, and supported. This year, we are aiming higher, and your support is what will allow us to reach further, touch more lives, and create new opportunities for Georgians who are blind, have low vision, or live with print disabilities.
Every donation helps us provide essential services, expand accessible programming, and give our listeners the independence, confidence, and connection they deserve. With your generosity, we can continue to ensure that information is not a privilege, but a right—accessible to everyone, everywhere. We are deeply thankful for every gift and every supporter who makes our mission possible.
