My name is Megan, and I'm a student at Emerson College in the speech-language pathology grad program. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to get to know individuals with aphasia, an acquired language disorder that often is the result of a stroke or brain injury. Witnessing the strength and positivity of the aphasia community has inspired me to join this campaign!
As a team member of the Fitness for Aphasia fundraising team, I hope to raise awareness about aphasia, how to better communicate with people with aphasia, and raise money to support this community. In addition, I pledge to complete 150 minutes of cardiovascular activity per week for four weeks to promote awareness for stroke-prevention and better cardiovascular health.
You can help in my mission by learning about the basics of aphasia, watching/sharing stories of people with aphasia that will be posted, taking note of how to better communicate with people with aphasia, and by making a contribution! Any donation amount is appreciated! 100% of proceeds will be donated directly to the American Aphasia Society.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about aphasia, donate, and email/share my page on social media. Your advocacy is cherished in a community in which so many individuals cannot speak for themselves.
