With the growing demand for community gardening space in Moab each year, we are thrilled to announce we're only $3,000 away from our $15,000 goal to cover construction costs for our new community garden in Old City Park!
The goal of the Moab Community Gardens (MoCom, managed by YGP) is to support local food security in Moab and Spanish Valley by providing land access for the development of sustainable, organic community gardens. MoCom aims to create welcoming community gardening spaces in which people of all abilities and backgrounds can feel safe, appreciated, and encouraged to share knowledge and expand their skills. Our community garden plots have filled quickly each year, so we're excited to be partnering with Moab City to build a third community garden at Old City Park.
The Old City Park Community Garden will house 12 garden plots and prioritize accessibility, with 6 mobility-friendly raised beds. We have raised a total of $12,000 thanks to generous contributions from 100 Women Who Care, Moab City, Get Healthy Utah, and private donors, but we still need $3,000 to fully fund the garden's construction. Consider donating today to help us build this beautiful new community space and support local food security!
Based on our 2025 survey data:
- Over 110 Moab residents responded in support of the new garden.
- The majority of respondents ranked “to alleviate food costs” as the #1 benefit of having a new community garden.
- “I think it’s a great idea, and I would love a community compost. I don’t have my own space for that.”
- “The more fresh food access and the more folks growing the better!”
- “That will be such an excellent location for the garden and perfect use of that park.”
