$500 goal
I am pleased to share that I’ve joined the board of Californians for Justice (CFJ), an organization that empowers young people to create healthy, just, and vibrant schools across the state. I support CFJ because they center the voices of students to transform schools and improve the lives of communities of color, immigrants, low-income families, and LGBTQ communities.
Through high school clubs and after-school programming, youth learn how to become community leaders—organizing and activating their peers to take action—and deepen their knowledge on issues like systemic racism, gender and sexuality, and education inequity.
As California’s leading organization advocating for education justice, CFJ wins campaigns statewide and in its four key regions—San Jose, Oakland, Fresno, and Long Beach. Students have advocated for and won equitable school funding, increased funding for programs that keep kids in schools, and changed a state law to improve how districts involve the community in budget decisions.
2020 is a big year for CFJ as it organizes to turn out young voters of color with a special focus on Schools & Communities First, a ballot proposition that will restore $11 billion for schools and local communities by closing commercial property tax loopholes.
Help me support this great organization by making a contribution to help me reach my goal of $500. If just 10 of my friends donate $50 or more, I can reach my goal by November 1!
