Hello and thanks for taking interest in my fundraising efforts.  My name is James and I'm an active volunteer at Five Acres for almost 3 years now.  Although we have adopted 4 cats (two bonded pairs) from 5A, I primarily spend my time with the doggies.  I enjoy providing enrichment, and training for dogs who are having difficulties being adopted due to the stress the shelter environment can bring.  My love to help these dogs does not end at adoption.  As their "Shelter Buddy" I continue helping them and their families overcome some of the transitional barriers many dogs face when acclimating to a new family and environment.  If you would like to see what I do for Five Acres, please check out my Facebook Blog @Rescue Me And More.  #Rescue #Adopt #Foster #Volunteer #Donate #Advocate

Five Acres Animal Shelter is the only no-kill shelter in St. Charles County. We assist those interested in adopting cats and dogs that have either been surrendered to us form owners that can no longer care for them or transferred from other shelters where they faced euthanasia.

We give second chances to animals by providing a safe temporary home with us until they find their forever home. We also take in a care for special needs animals with the help of Shadow’s Fund, our special needs program. This program helps animals that require extensive veterinary care beyond routine check ups and spay/neuter surgeries. We have many dogs that are fighting heartworm disease and have several cats that are FIV+ and FeLV positive. Most of these animals would not be given a chance at many of the shelter we pull them from.
