Dear Friends and Family,
For our shared B’not Mitzvah, we are excited to support Engage Globally an organization founded and directed by a family friend. We chose Engage because we are grateful for the educational and sports opportunities we have, and we want to share those with other children locally and globally.
As part of our practice of Tzedakah and Ma’aser, we will be donating 10% of any gifts we receive. We also hope you will consider making a donation to help us make a difference with our celebration.
Engage Globally (www.engageglobally.org) supports education and development in traditional villages in rural northern Ghana. Engage educates over 600 children from nine communities. The students come from families living in extreme poverty who face many challenges like a lack of access to clean water and frequent food shortages. Our father visited some of these communities and met children there in 2012!
Our goal - creating a soccer after-school program: We love playing soccer! So, we decided to try to give other children the opportunity to play. Soccer is very popular in Ghana, like it is in our community. But there are no funds for soccer balls, jerseys, and other things kids need. Our donation will help provide:
- The opportunity for children to be on teams and to learn how to play!
- Soccer balls
- Nets for scoring
- Shoes – many children do not have shoes or have only flip flops. So, this program will help children have safer shoes for both soccer and school.
- Shirts that will be sewn by Engage’s vocational training students to wear as jerseys. We know these will create lots of pride for all the team players.
- Snacks to help reduce malnutrition at every game.
