Meet Analesa! Analesa is a Cadette with Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia who is on the Media Girls team and got to go to Space Camp this summer on a scholarship!

"Hi, I’m Analesa from Troop 20028, and you might have heard or seen me before! I’ve been in Girl Scouts since 1st Grade, and now I’m a 7th Grade Cadette. I’ve participated in many events with my Service Area, and I am a Media Girl! Girl Scouts has helped me a lot, especially when public speaking. Before Girl Scouts, I never would have presented in front of a small class of kids my age. Now, I’ve presented in groups of 25 to 28 kids by myself, presented to at least over 100 people, and it has also helped me in my drama class last year. I have been Master of Ceremonies at many events, World Thinking Day was my favorite and I spoke to more than 100 people in the auditorium!

This summer I got to go to Space Camp! Space camp was amazing, thank you guys for helping me go! I enjoyed everything, but my favorites were the simulations, especially the MAT, 1/6 chair, and the G Force ride. We learned about all the different missions, such as Orion, Mercury, Artemis, and others. Our day trainer, Sammy, told us that in Indiana there was the Gus Grissom Museum, and that they have Gus Grissom’s half eaten corn beef sandwich in resin. Gus Grissom was an astronaut that flew in project Gemini, Mercury, and Apollo.

We also got to see a space rock that came from the moon, and a space capsule that was in space. I met a ton of people and exchanged numbers with them. I met Anja from SC, Cassandra from Hawaii, and other people like Lene, and Lucy. We did 2 missions, the Mars and Lunar Missions. During the Mars mission, I was the Commander for the people in the tents on Mars. I did 02 and directed my PCS, Lucy, who would type in the code for that oxygen tank. Then we got in the Orion capsule, but we couldn’t hear Mission Control, so by the time we got to the Altair Capsule, we had to skip to splashdown, but we succeeded in our first mission. For the Lunar Mission, I was in Mission Control. I was the Flight Director, so I was basically everybody’s boss. If the mission failed, it got pointed at me. Luckily we succeeded in our mission! We had to say some lines, and basically I had to keep everything in line, make sure people were doing their jobs, and help fix anomalies. It was fun because I got to yell down the aisle to tell people to fix the problem with me. At the awards ceremony, we were all surprised when they called our team for the Commanders Cup Award, which meant that out of the about 12 teams there, we had the highest combined average for our missions!"
