- In March, 2020, AFA's new third Executive Director, Emily Blejwas, will lead the organization.
- Annual meetings featuring Alabama's local folk culture and presentations including film, lectures, public discussions, tours, demonstrations, and performances.
- Alabama Community Scholars Institutes 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2014
- Archive of Alabama Folk Culture funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
- Joyce H. Cauthen Fund for folklife research in Alabama.
- Books published and CDs and DVDs produced
- Two traveling exhibits using modern media
- 13 issues of the journal Tributaries
- 6 Traditional Music CDs produced by Steve Grauberger, ACTC, a division of ASCA
- Alabama Folklife Festival (1989-1993) and the Alabama Folk Sampler Stage at Birmingham’s City Stages music festival (1991-2002)
