Project Somos brings joy, and education to Guatemalan children, in a compassionate environment

$928

$2,000 goal

Amy and I are so honored to be a part of this organization and have the ability to travel to Guatemala to support and help this amazing community of children and leaders.  Voluntourism provides opportunities for cultural and learning exchanges, as well as donations of time, labor, and funding.  All donations made to this page are tax-deductible and are for the benefit solely of Project Somos Children's Village in Guatemala.   Thank You!!

The Project Somos Children’s Village is an eco-sustainable community aiming to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala by providing quality education and healthy food to families in need.

In Guatemala, 25.5% of the population is illiterate, with illiteracy rates up to more than 60% of the indigenous population. Nearly one-half of Guatemala’s children under age five are chronically malnourished, one of the highest malnutrition rates in the world.

As an education center, the Village provides programming to children in the surrounding community who were falling through the cracks of the Guatemalan system.

Project Somos further supports the children’s families by providing vocational training and opportunities to the mothers, as well as parenting classes in topics like nutrition and hygiene.

By donating to Project Somos, you help provide the necessities and ability to nurture these children into flourishing adults with bright futures.

$55 can provide a baking program for one child for the whole of 2024, teaching them important life skills, sharing new flavors with them, and helping with their fine motor skills.

$100 provides the organic farm and nutritional program for a child for the month, including 22 hot, nutritional lunches and 44 fruit-based filling snacks and classes to learn how to farm.

$145 provides a full education program for a child for a month including all the essentials plus specialized English, technology, and reading programs, preparing the child for their future.

$250 Provides one girl, or one boy a space for a year in our girls and boys clubs which are focused on teaching children important life skills including respectful leadership and empowerment.
