Andrew Beckerman Doubles Your Gift until June 30

Dear friends,

I first heard about Rainbow Railroad when I traveled to Jamaica for Montego Bay Pride. LGBTQI people there are at great risk of physical harm and even death. And, I encountered a young man who was repeatedly abused because of his sexual orientation and HIV status.

His very life was in danger.

As a person who also identifies as a gay man living with HIV since 1980, this was an emotional encounter. I was relieved to help him find refuge from those who meant him harm; Rainbow Railroad called me months later to let me know that he was out of immediate danger, in Europe. 

What a joy to later see him able to walk down the street without looking over his shoulder! You can hear the similar stories of a number of Jamaicans Rainbow Railroad moved here (one pictured above).

The personal freedom I enjoy is essential as an out gay person. Rainbow Railroad brings this type of hope to hundreds of LGBTQI people each year.
