In honor of Intermountain Wellness & Chiropractics beloved office dog, Ayla VanDenBerg, Intermountain will be hosting “Ayla Day” on September 22nd on the anniversary of her passing. To honor and remember her, half of the proceeds from that day, along with any additional donations will be donated to the Better Together Animal Alliance Shelter in Ponderay. Intermountain invites their existing patients to bring in their own beloved and friendly dogs that day to the clinic with them to their scheduled appointment or to just stop in and say hi!
Ayla passed away at 11.5 years old and was a beloved office dog, service dog to Dr Cameron VanDenBerg (owner of Intermountain) after his time serving in the marine corps, and an icon of Intermountain, having met approximately 6,000 patients/people in the Sandpoint area. Ayla traveled all over the country with Dr Cameron, lived in three different time zones and was his companion throughout chiropractic school when he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. While her official title was “professional greeter”, she was also there to (literally) hold the hands of any patient that she knew was in pain or needed emotional comfort of any kind. Losing Ayla affected all of Intermountain’s staff members and they wept together and said their goodbyes. Owners of Ayla (Dr Cameron and Rylie) decided that every year on September 22nd, “Ayla Day” would be a day full of remembrance of her, and a fun day spent with their patients and their pets to donate back to helping animals in their loved community.
