Remember our rural LGBTQ+ siblings this Pride.
This year during Pride month, I'm raising money for Out in the Open because rural LGBTQ space is deeply important to me.
Having queer community when I lived in a rural area made me feel seen and understood at a time when I felt deeply alone.
Queer community is the difference between loneliness and isolation, and safety, access, support, love and joy. That can literally be the difference between life and death. We need to create these spaces, places, and supports for all our rural LGBTQ+ siblings.
Will you join me in supporting Out in the Open?
Out in the Open is a trans-led, 100% rural and small-town LGBTQ grassroots nonprofit. They provide care packages to rural LGBTQ folks in isolated areas, organize to change unjust legislation- like the gay/trans panic defense- host skill-sharing workshops, racial justice study groups, mutual-support groups, art, media, and oral history projects, and so much more for and with our rural queer communities.
My goal is to raise $500 for our rural LGBTQ communities by GiveOut Day, (June 30).
