Josiah and Angie took a 5 month trip through Central America back in 2009. On that trip, we met the founders of Project Somos Children Village, Heather, and Greg. They were just in the process of looking for land at the time, and the project has blossomed into the most fantastic organization serving children and families.
We, as a family, are heading down to Guatemala in June to volunteer for a week! As part of that volunteering, we give a donation to the project. That is what you are donating to on this page! We will fund our own travel, food, etc. This donation goes straight to the project!
In Guatemala, education is not free. Families living in poverty cannot afford to send their children to school, and child labour is common. Project Somos aims to break the cycle of poverty through education and nutrition. You can learn more here: https://projectsomos.org/
