Hello, my name is Taylor, I’m a junior in high school, and I will be using this page to raise money for my Girl Scouts Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can receive.
For my project, I will be helping an organization in downtown St. Pete create a playroom for the children of single mothers on the brink of homelessness. This playroom will become a space where volunteers can watch the children of mothers, allowing them to do essential things like attend school, or run errands by themselves. The playroom will also be a way for the kids to interact with each other and their environment to become more social, and to learn, all while having fun! My goal is to make the playroom a place where the children are excited to go, and for the mothers to have peace of mind leaving their kids there knowing that they will be in both a safe and fun environment.
The money you donate will go towards buying furniture, paint and new toys for the room! I will be designing rooms that will be both fun and engaging for the kids there. Kids 0-2, 3-4, and 5-6 will each get their own areas, each accommodating for the needs of the kids at that age. For example, there will be an area in the 0-2-year-old room for sensory skills, that will help the kids develop in that area. Similarly, in both the 3-4 and 5-6-year-old rooms there will be home centers, that will help the children develop a sense of the home, and how to work in a family setting. All of these things, while being helpful for the kids education-wise, will also be fun for them, and help them develop important social skills needed for the real world.
Thank you so much for any donation you are able to make!
