Hi, my name is Charlotte Gruen! Thank you for visiting my Mighty Cause page!

Early in the year I became a member of the Jewish Teen Foundation (JTF), a youth philanthropy board. In this role, as a board we come to a consensus on a mission statement each year, raise funds for the chosen cause, and research nonprofit organizations for grant allocation. My motivation stems from my desire to relieve the suffering of others. I am driven by the belief that everyone is entitled to fundamental rights, and witnessing those deprived of such rights inspires me to advocate for their equality. I am dedicated to supporting individuals in any capacity possible, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve on this board because I feel that offering my time and awareness can be some of the most important aspects I can give.

JTF South Board's mission statement this year is:

The Jewish Teen Foundation South Board is committed to supporting those affected by substance addiction through organizations/initiatives that provide education and rehabilitation services to create and sustain positive change for individuals and families.

To define, Addiction is a complex issue involving a harmful dependency on substances or behaviors. While some seek help, others face barriers like stigma and limited access to treatment, hindering their ability to receive the assistance they need for overcoming their addiction. Substance addiction can devastate marriages by fostering distrust and emotional disconnection as the addicted partner prioritizes the substance over the relationship.

Did you know that:

- "In the United States alone, 2.702 million individuals 12 and over qualify as having an opioid use disorder?" (SAMHSA)

- "In 2020, the federal budget approved for drug control was nearing $35 billion." (Addiction Center)

- "In and around 50,000 people die annually from an Opioid overdose." (Addiction Center)

Good news! You can help: donate today! As the JTF Board group, we thoroughly vet every organization to ensure they fully address the needs of those struggling with addiction- from prioritizing access to quality care to ensuring every dollar raised is granted to mission and values-aligned nonprofits.

Our fundraising deadline is April 10th, 2024. Please contact me with any questions or to learn more at charlottegruen28@gmail.com

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about substance use disorders and for your kind donation!
