Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is to offer or maintain a fellowship among U.S. veterans engaged in an overseas conflict, offer or assist with services to our community veterans and be an advocate for our veterans.

We offer a meeting place for veterans to engage in dialogue and keep them tuned into veteran activities in the community. We encourage veterans to be involved in offering help to community members from providing transportation to mowing yards. We encourage volunteer efforts. We are very engaged in Memorial Day Services and Veterans Day activities for the community. We also assist families by providing Military Honors for their loved one that has past.

Honoring all veterans that have served in uniform. Specific recognition by name is done each year at recognition ceremonies as indicated above. Every year we add new names to the Cozad Veterans' Memorial Park's Memorial Pillars, Avenue of Flags, and Honor Bricks.

Some of the items we did this past year was giving out scholarships to our seniors, recognizing high school students for their veteran essays, having an elementary school staff member being recognized for their citizenship emphasis at the states VFW convention. Partook in Spook night, Flags Across the Nation at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, doing a number of Military Honors for the families that lost their loved one also VFW members posting of colors at community events and graduations. 

Money raised and donated go to maintaining the activities above as well as building upkeep, utilities and insurance in keeping the post open. Certain amount is set aside for the Relief Fund which provides financial assistance to veterans in need.
