Equipping Our Future Leaders

The Washington, DC Chapter has devoted themselves to the betterment of social, civic and cultural relationships in our community and has been working toward this end for more than 65 years.   For more than 50 years, we have awarded scholarships to low and moderate income students in Washington, DC public schools.   We are seeking your support to help us continue to equip the next generation of leaders and strengthen families and communities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  Your donations allow us to continue to provide annual scholarships to deserving students from Washington, D.C. and support other projects for enriching the lives of children in our community. 

Chums, Incorporated is a national non-profit that provides opportunities for women to meet, to encourage a spirit of helpfulness, and to use their many talents in service to the community.  We promote civic, cultural, educational improvement; striving to enrich the lives of children by helping them to develop to their fullest intellectual, moral, emotional, physical and social potential. 

Although 2020 has been a challenging year, Chums, Inc has continued to strive to meet our mission to enrich the lives of children.  In 2020, Chums, Inc. chapters:

• Volunteered a total of 32,584  hours in their communities
• Contributed $118,875.75  to the Children's Defense Fund, The Obama Foundation, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund ,  Black and Missing Foundation, Queen Louis Home for Children , Sickle Cell of America, Youth Build, national and international hurricane relief efforts, and other organizations with strong dedication to serving our children and our communities.
