Sophie + Junie's Montessori Education 💖

Sophie and Junie attend St. Augustine Public Montessori school, one of the few public Montessori options in the state of Florida! 

With continued cuts to education in Florida, our small school often feels the brunt of it. Because we're much smaller than other public schools in the county, we get a smaller "piece of the pie" based on our enrollment. And when you pair that with the higher expenses needed for our quality Montessori materials, the necessity for fundraising becomes even greater. 

We tried the traditional public school experience for Sophie, and we knew right away that it wasn't the right environment for her. This, along with the continued degradation of the public school curriculum, led us to STA Montessori: an alternative approach to education. The unique learning environment cultivates children's autonomy and sustains their curiosity by giving them personal freedom in their learning experience (within limits, o course). This approach has helped Sophie learn at her own pace, and become more confident. 

And Junie, who is wrapping up her first year in Montessori, is already reading 3 letter words and even trying to sound out and spell words on her own! She is so excited about learning, and her drive is nurtured in this environment.
