Update #1
Hey everyone! I want to give a huge thanks to those of you who have contributed to my fundraiser. This is our home stretch. I have one month left of fundraising and I am $400 away from my goal.
Hi there! I am Gaby Galinson.
For the past few months, I have been a part of The Jewish Teen Foundation board. JTF is a teen led program that combines leadership and philanthropy into a fundraising project. Being on the JTF board has been a meaningful process for me. I feel very fortunate for my health and safety during this pandemic and I am wanting to support those with less fortune.
Our JTF board’s mission statement:
The Jewish Teen Foundation is committed to supporting people affected by domestic violence through organizations/initiatives that provide direct services and preventative measures to ensure physical and mental safety for all.
We are now in the process of fundraising for survivors of domestic violence. This issue is extremely pressing during COVID-19 as people are stuck in hostile home environments. Isolation is a big risk factor in intimate partner violence and COVID-19 has increased isolation both physically and socially for so many people. Though domestic violence is a hidden issue, studies have shown that 1 in 4 women are in abusive relationships at one point in their lives. That is devastating and unacceptable. Here is an article with more information about the rise in domestic violence during the pandemic.
My goal is to raise $1,500 by April 15th, so I hope you will join me! Your support is greatly appreciated, as together we can support those directly affected by domestic violence.
