Every day Community Ministry of Prince George's County, an interfaith 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization seeks to help Prince George's residents meet their human service needs and improve their qulity of life.  Daily our Answer Center receives dozens of calls from unemployed or underemployed single mothers, seniors, disabled persons, laid off men, students, and others who lack funds to pay their utility bill and/or their rent. We intake and qualify those we believe are in real need. Through our Step Up Program we then seek ways to help them pay their bills and avoid eviction.  We refer some to ask churches in their neighborhood, other non-profits, and in some cases their employer for help.  Then when funds are available, we add our funds to pay a portion of their bill from our meager funds.

To help homeless, near homeless, working poor, and others in need of a solid meal, at our Community Place Cafe in Hyattsville, MD we provide 468 free lunches a week to needy individuals and families.  Our We Do Care team also distributes over 30,000 lbs of free fresh produce monthly at our Seat Pleasant,MD distribution site. In partnership with a local church, we provide affordable family housing.  Led by the School of Public Health, University of Maryland, our university community teams supported by the American Cancer Society and National Cancer Institute, are implementing two projects to provide cancer education and early detection information and assistance to church health ministry workers and appropriate members in 34 churches in Prince George's County.

Our strategy is to leverage hundreds of volunteers including members of the Faith Community from across Prince George's County and the region to deliver relevant services in a cost effective and timely manner.  This allows us to deliver services to thousands of needy and underserved persons in an efficient manner.

We are experiencing growing requests for basic food, shelter, and health needs as the economy continues to struggle.

Your gifts and donations will enable our small staff supported by hundreds of volunteers to help thousands of needy and underserved individuals and families meet their basic needs.
