The Apollo Theater is a commissioner and presenter; catalyst for new artists, audiences, and creative workforce; and partner in the projection of the African American narrative and its role in the development of American and global culture.

The Apollo Theater envisions a new American cannon centered on contributions to the performing arts by artists of the African diaspora, in America and beyond.

When this crisis is over, the world will need artists to help us interpret the results of this enforced isolation and the Apollo wants to ensure that the voices of African American artists are heard, offering the perspective of our community. Whether these works are performed in the new theaters at Victoria cultural space next door, at the landmark Apollo Theater, or using digital platforms, the Apollo will have an important statement to make about our present and our future. The Apollo is home to artists and audiences alike. It is the familiarity, comfort, and peace that comes when you are surrounded by people who are like you. Easy laughter at shared experiences, tears for shared sorrows, and love of what we mean to one another. This is what makes the Apollo home.
