"Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person"

Hi! My name is Haley Rothbart and I am so lucky to take part in the Jewish Teen Foundation (JTF) this year. I am excited to learn and grow as a person, so that I can best help those around me. I am so fortunate to grow up with an amazing family and educational system, so I feel that it is my role in the community to give back as much as I can. I am truly inspired by the amazing people who are a part of this organization, and I am excited to learn from other teens as well as our mentors about the act of fundraising and helping others.

This year has been very difficult for almost everyone in our society. Many people have lost their jobs and loved ones to this pandemic along with many other consequences. This year, we, as a JTF board, chose to focus on the pressing issue of domestic violence.

The Jewish Teen Foundation is committed to supporting people affected by domestic violence through organizations/initiatives that provide direct services and preventative measures to ensure physical and mental safety for all.

With rising cases and stay- at- home orders, the amount of domestic violence has increased and change needs to be made (NAUTILUS). I am extremely passionate about this issue, for I did not realize the devastating impacts that it has on so many people. These shocking statistics opened my mind and made me realize the extent of domestic violence.

  • "On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men" (https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS)
  • "1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime"(https://www.thehotline.org/stakeholders/domestic-violence-statistics/)
  • "In reviewing all domestic violence reports (n=1870) over a 12-month period, less than one-third (28.8%) of the domestic violence cases ended in arrest. Even the most serious charges (aggravated batteries) were more likely to end without an arrest (62.6%) than with an arrest (37.4%)(https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF01531962)

We need your help to make a real difference in this world. A small donation might not seem like a lot, but even if you make a change in one person's life, that would be enough. Together, we can help those in need so please join us in helping our community. All donations are greatly appreciated through April 15th, 2021.

Thank you for your time, and if you need anything or have any questions feel free to reach out. My email is haley@therothbarts.com. Thank you very much!
