Help Us Feed Hungry People
In 2020 we've fed more hungry people than ever before -- twice as many as last year! As a result, our costs have gone up by almost 50%. Please help us continue our work to provide hot, nutritious meals to homeless, low-income, and vulnerable folks who are hungry and hurting by donating to Hope's Corner on #GivingTuesday – December 1, 2020.
More Than Saturday Breakfasts
Hope's Corner responded quickly to COVID-19. We stepped up to address increased food insufficiency resulting from the pandemic by expanding our meals program. We added these services to our existing Saturday breakfast:
- Wednesday lunch – Includes a hot item, hard-boiled egg, snacks, drink, and more (100 – 150 meals, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
- Hot meals for RV residents – Delivered offsite to 5 locations around Mountain View (75 meals on Wednesdays, 100 meals on Saturdays).
- Hot meals for day workers – Provided to the Day Worker Center of Mountain View (75 meals on Saturdays).
- Drive-thru option – Allows guests to pick up meals at our Wednesday lunch and Saturday breakfast without leaving their car.
Eating Well and Staying Well
Besides providing nutritious food, we help our guests stay healthy by offering free masks, hand sanitizer, and hygiene kits. We also partner with other organizations to provide COVID-19 tests and flu shots.
Power to the People
Hope's Corner responded to homeless and low-income folks who struggle to charge their laptops and phones after COVID-19 limited access to charging locations. We began distributing Jackery power chargers to those who need them – including a homeless De Anza student who feared she'd have to drop out because she didn't have a way to charge her laptop. To date, we've distributed over 400 laptop chargers, power banks, and solar panels to our guests. We've also provided over 1000 of these items to shelters, schools, and other organizations.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
All of our services are important, but what might be most important is that Hope's Corner volunteers offer welcoming smiles and take genuine interest in our guests. We know many of their challenges and stories. And we do our best to provide services with dignity and respect.
