The past few years have marked a period of rapid growth and transformation for Kitchen Table Advisors. We doubled our staff in just two years, and increased the number of farmers and ranchers we advise by 50 percent. While this growth was driven by a desire to meet the needs of local farmers and ranchers, it also occurred during a time of profound global uncertainty. Additionally, several of our long time staff members, including Anthony Chang- our first Executive Director, will be transitioning out of the organization in December heading in the direction of new horizons.
In times of change and transformation, we often advise our clients to reflect on what is helping them achieve their goals, where adjustments are needed, and/or what can be let go of that is not serving them or their business.
Much like the advice we often offer farm and ranch owners, we’re committing to investing in ourselves in 2022 so that we ensure KTA’s long-term viability.
KTA plans to spend the next year:
- knitting together our shared learnings after two years of co-creating a consensus-based organizational structure and regional model
- investing in operational systems and policies that that support the wellbeing of our 20+ staff and 100+ clients
- refining our program evaluation and data tracking tools to improve access to information and more effectively assess our work
Transforming our food system is an enormous effort that requires collaborative work and a deeply committed support network invested in long-term change. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead, and we extend the invitation to you, our community, to join us in this period of reflection and renewal in the hopes that this resonates with you.
