In House Counsel

Join other in-house counsel in supporting the English Skills Learning Center. Every year, UMBA selects one non-profit organization as the beneficiary of its annual Juneteenth fundraiser. As part of the fundraiser, firms in town come together for a friendly competition to raise the most funds for the selected beneficiary.

This year, UMBA has selected the English Skills Learning Center (ESLC) as the beneficiary. The ESLC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers free, high-quality English, citizenship preparation, and workforce training classes for adult immigrants and refugees -- from those learning to read and write in any language for the first time to those with advanced degrees looking to reconnect with their professions in a new country.

Since 1988, ESLC's services have allowed for students to confidently navigate life in the United States. Its programs equip new Americans with the language and confidence to engage in civic life, pursue education and employment, and advocate for their families.

This fundraiser will help support ESLC's Community English Program, which provides no-cost English language instruction to adult immigrants and refugees across Salt Lake County. Your donations will help keep these programs going, support trusted community educators, and ensures every adult who wants to learn has the chance to do so.
