I don’t speak because I have the power to speak; I speak because I don’t have the power to remain silent. - Rabbi A. Y. Kook
The Jewish Teen Foundation is a program stemmed from the Jewish Community Federation. The NPJTF is a 16 year old program, where 24 hardworking Jewish teens come together to research and learn about important world problems and work to support Jewish and other nonprofit organizations, that are working towards repairing the world
This year, our mission is to promote positive social change by protecting the environment and responding to the needs of people affected by environmental problems locally, globally and in Israel.
I learned that:
- Hurricane Harvey caused $180 billion in damage. That’s more than any other natural disaster in US history affecting 13 million people from Texas through Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky.
- The Tubbs fire began Oct 8 2017 and grew to over 36,000 acres in 36 hours burning dried forests along its path
- Uganda’s 2000 jews (Abayudaya) have long maintained a modest existence. Thus relying on their own crops to survive, have been hit hard by the drought, leaving most of the community without food for long periods of time.
The NPJTF‘s work, aided by you, will indeed make a difference and touch numerous lives. Thank you for your important contribution, my board and I know that what ever you decide to donate will make a difference.
