Dear Friends,

Some of you may have seen this photo before, but bear with me as I share it yet again. I am pictured with a beautiful boreal toad, which is an animal I love with all my heart. I got to survey a few parts of Utah for this species in the spring, and I am happy to report that they make the cutest squeak I have ever heard. (I didn't know toads were capable of producing such a ridiculously adorable sound!)

Boreal toad populations are declining in Utah, which brings me sorrow that is hard to express, especially after interacting so closely with them. However, during a time where there is a lot of collective pain and fear, this is one area where there is hope yet. I am honored to work for a nonprofit that works to answer big questions about the boreal toad and other western wildlife species to support long-term conservation.

Like all of you, I support science-based wildlife conservation in my home in the West. I am proud to be a part of an organization that engages our community in on-the-ground work to make this a reality. Our team gets more done than I ever would have thought such a small group could be capable of. We each truly love this work.

In addition to my obvious love for wildlife, conservation, community, and storytelling, I was initially pulled to Wild Utah Project for another reason: its unique collaborative approach. With so much separation and anger in our country right now, I feel like this kind of work is vital. We work with all kinds of groups, including hunters, government agencies, conservationists, ranchers, birders, fishermen, students, families, and others.

If you believe in the work I do using science, communications, and collaboration to conserve Utah's amazing wildlife and habitats, now is the time to donate to Wild Utah Project.  We also found a matching donor for $1,000, which is exciting!

Whether you can give $5, $25, or $100, your donation has a real impact. And if you're not in a position to give, sharing this with friends you might think are interested would be just as meaningful. Thank you so much for supporting these projects that mean so much to me. I am so grateful.

Love,

Sarah

P.S. In the meantime, enjoy this video about a three-legged toad's epic migration story and try not to cry (:
