Hello, my name is Jonah Lipson.
I joined the Jewish Teen Foundation(JTF) because I feel that when people are suffering from an issue, I want to do whatever I can to help them.
The Jewish Teen Foundation is a teen philanthropy Board, where teens become effective philanthropists by coming to a consensus on a mission statement each year, fundraising for the cause, and researching/vetting nonprofit organizations to award grants to.
2020-21 Mission Statement:
The Jewish Teen Foundation is committed to supporting people affected by domestic violence through organizations/initiatives that provide direct services and preventative measures to ensure physical and mental safety for all.
Domestic Violence is a cause that is very significant because it can be really hard to get out of the situation and can be really scary, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic since everyone is home and victims of domestic violence have no way of escaping.
Did you know that "An average of 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States — more than 12 million women and men over the course of a single year?"(NDVH)
Also, in the US, 29% of women and 10% of men experience rape or physical violence(NDVH), and "Intimate partner violence alone affects more than 12 million people every year" (NDVH)
These statistics are really scary and they show we cannot wait any longer to put an end to domestic violence and we must stop this horrible cause.
Thank you so much for donating and learning more about domestic violence! It really means a lot, so that we can help everyone to feel safe within their relationships and in their homes.
The fundraising deadline is April 15th. If you have any questions, please email me at jonahlipson@gmail.com
