Thank you everyone for helping me reach my original goal of $1,000. I'm going to push myself to try and reach my next goal of $1,500. This is my shelter pawty buddy, Pancake. Pancake and his brother KitKat lost their home after their owner died and they had nowhere else to go. I'm glad that BAHS was able to take the brothers in and give them a safe space while they wait for the next chapter of their lives to begin. They are just the sweetest boys!
I'm raising funds in support of Boone Area Humane Society. I have volunteered at the BAHS for 11 years now. During that time I have taken thousands of pictures of the dogs and cats to help them get adopted. I've learned how to get cats to hold still (they don't, I just need to be quick) and how to make silly sounds to get dogs to look (they mostly ignore me unless I have treats!). It's been an honor to help them find their forever homes.
I've also fostered kittens for the shelter, they are a lot of work, messy, stressful at times, and a blast to have. Tears are shed when it's time to say goodbye to those foster kittens, but that's the goal of fostering! I've also been a foster failure to Yeti (that's him in the picture), Princess Storm, Gravy, and Slinky Malinki along with my senior cat, Hiro.
If you have adopted a dog or cat from a shelter, there is so much work that goes into getting that animal ready before they go home with you. From vaccinations, spay/neuters, microchipping, deworming and just giving them time to destress before they go home, each animal can easily cost over $200 or more for the shelter.
