Vinur, Kathy and Nancy all started at Equi-Ed close to the same time this summer.
Kathy says, “As a new volunteer, the experience of working with such beautiful horses for the benefit of these riders, alongside Maxine and in the company of other good-hearted individuals is extraordinarily rewarding and inspiring. I’m so glad I found Equi-Ed!” Kathy has experienced the magic of Iceland and the remarkable horses there and is thrilled to be able to experience Vinur and his interaction with the students.
Vinur is an Icelandic horse. Originating in Iceland, these horses are known for their intelligence, strength and gentle temperament. Vinur is a perfect embodiment of these qualities. He has been ridden on trails at Spring Lake, Doran Beach and many other local areas. People are always wanting to pet him and take his picture. He loves the attention and is especially fond of children. His disposition is perfect for the Equi-Ed program where he has already interacted wih staff and students in his gentle way.
Nancy Allsup Freeman has had the pleasure of riding and working with Vinur for several years. She is a recently retired counselor from Santa Rosa City Schools. Having known Maxine for a long time, she knew Equi-Ed would work well for her and Vinur. Equi-Ed is perfectly suited to combine her love of working with students and being around horses. Equi-Ed is genuinely an exceptional environment. Nancy says, “I love being at Equi-Ed. The facility is located in a beautiful and peaceful place. All the people there, staff, volunteers and students are such a joy and pleasure to be with. It is inspirational and fun at the same time.”
