The Springfield Credit for Life Committee would like to first thank you for your continued support of Financial Literacy in the Springfield community.

Once again, the Springfield Credit for Life is asking for your sponsorship of an effort to enhance the financial literacy of the studens in our community.  On April 23rd, 2024 we will host a financial education fair which is a simulation of the financial obstacles students will face throughout their lives. The Springfield Credit for Life Committee exists to give young students some basic money tools needed to help them with their future financial decisions.

So, what is Credit for Life?

It is an intensive, interactive reality fair that is a fun simulation of saving, spending, and budgeting based on career choices and lifestyle decisions, ranging from where to live and how to save for retirement to running into real life obstacles and managing their credit scores.  Our target audiences are high school seniors.  At this stage, many students begin to earn a real income from jobs, so the fair experience has an immediate application.  Teachers and students alike are impressed with how realistic and true-to-life the Credit for Life fair is.

Like many other organizations Springfield Credit for Life was put on hold during the Covid pandemic.  This year we have a highly motivated group of community members excited to bring this fair back to Springfield Technical Community College! With the current economic climate, now more than ever our students need the knowledge to manage and control their finances, and understand the impact of the choices they make. We are hoping to reach over 400 students this year! To do this, we need to purchase supplies, calculators, pencils, and other materials essential for a successful fair.

Sponsors will be recognized on a banner the day of the event as well as in a ‘Thank you’ insert that is included in the padfolio and Credit Basics booklet given free to each participant.  It will show the students your commitment to financial education.

We are committed to organizing and recruiting 50-70 local volunteers to help during the event.  We encourage you or any of your staff to get involved in this great event.

Our contributions are raised through Springfield School Volunteers, a 501(c)3 entity that is part of the Springfield Public School system.   The enclosed request indicates the various sponsorships available.

We look forward to your support and extend a heartfelt thank you for helping us make this a successful fair.
