Tragic landslides in the Telemet, North Gonder, Amhara region have caused loss of life and displacement of many people. Urgent humanitarian aid is needed to assist those affected.
"Deadly Landslide Devastates Telemt, Displaces HundredsNorth Gonder Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia On August 24th, a landslide struck the Nola area of Abna Kebele, claiming ten lives, with 6 people still missing. Four bodies have been recovered, and eight injured individuals are receiving treatment at Dejach-Meda Health Center. The disaster also killed over 35 livestock and damaged more than 30 hectares of farmland. Approximately 480 households (2,400 individuals) have been displaced and are taking refuge in local community facilities. Further landslides expected due to heavy rainfall and stress the need for humanitarian aid for the displaced families." VOA Amharic
