"Hi Fallon, I have completed mile # 18; one mile yesterday and the grand finale today, May 15th. I have enjoyed the challenge....Thank you to you for your help and thank you to the Boys and Girls Club for supporting my effort.. If you have a way to express my thanks to all the donors I will very much appreciate it!"
Check out some captures of her on her journey:
We appreciate you Ms. Casey and will miss the daily updates. We'll have to check in on this rockstar.
Lucille Casey is seeking sponsors to support her in her goal to walk 5 miles in her neighborhood. Ms. Casey says, "to some that might not seem like a lot, but it is for me considering I'm 93!". She is asking for sponsors to support her journey to show how she can get out and help Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills during this pandemic. All donations from sponsors will support the emergency food efforts of the Club.
As an emergency extension of its Summer Feeding Program, the Club receives federal funding to pay for breakfast and lunch bags for anyone under the age of 18.
With the help of Moore County Schools, the bags go out from more than 20 locations to families throughout the county.
Through the Boys and Girls Club and the Neighbors Feeding Neighbors effort spearheaded by Team Green founder Kate Petsolt, the club is also distributing reheatable family dinner trays sourced from local restaurants. Those amount to another 1,200 meals a day.
For donations by mail please mail to Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills PO Box 1761 Southern Pines NC 28388 and add Lucille Casey to the memo to show your support!
