URGENT: Help Meli Breathe Easier

When 7-year-old Meli arrived at BTAA, she was in serious trouble. She was suffering from severe heatstroke and struggling to breathe. Our veterinary team worked quickly to stabilize her and give her the care she desperately needed.

But once Meli was stable, we discovered there was something much bigger standing in her way.

Meli has Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome, a complicated condition that makes every breath harder than it should be. Surgery to repair tissue around her nostrils, shorten her soft palate and remove obstructions in her larynx could dramatically improve her ability to breathe and change what everyday life feels like for her.

Think about how much we take a simple breath for granted. Meli doesn't get to.

She has already been through so much. Now we have the opportunity to give her something she has never had: The chance to breathe easier, feel better and simply enjoy being a dog without fighting for every breath.
