Hello and welcome to my mighty cause page!

My name is Julia Jeck and this year I joined the Jewish Teen Foundation to learn how to make a positive change in the world. We have decided this year to focus our efforts on domestic violence this year for a multitude of reasons, one of which is the current pandemic.

Our mission this year is to  support people affected by domestic violence through organizations/initiatives that provide direct services and preventative measures to ensure physical and mental safety for all.

Our goal for fundraising is $60 000. Please keep in mind that all donations must be summited before April 15th and all donations are tax deductible.

Every since the pandemic began and stay at home orders has been issued and people have been laid off work there have been a lot of developments in our nations current situation involving domestic violence, here are some helpful statistics to hopefully spread a little bit more information about the issue:

-One in 4 women and one in 10 men will experience domestic violence at some point in their lifetimes.

-Of that 1 in 7 women and 1 in 25 men have been injured by a domestic partner.

-In some places, the percentage of calls to domestic violence hotlines dropped by 50% since the start of the pandemic and this is thought to be because of a drop in the ability to safely communicate with domestic violence services.

All the above information comes from the New England Medical Journal.
