My name is Jill Marinelli, I am the College and Career Director for Mission Graduates at John O'Connell High School. My students are passionate, resilient, motived, and intelligent. They are working hard to keep thier grades high, give back to thier community, and pursue a college education. 92% of my seniors have applied to college. They have been accepted to Princeton University, Mills College, UC Davis, University of Pugent Sound, UC Merced, UC Riverside, San Francisco State, and many more amazing colleges and universities.
The majority of our students are first in thier families to go to college, and low income. The rising costs of education can be a barrier to a child reching thier highest potential. 95% of the senior class has applied to the FAFSA/Dream Act, but this funding is often not enough. Scholarship funding supports these students and allow them to pursue thier educational and career goals.
I am excited to raise funds for the Mission Promise Neighborhood (MPN) Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors at John O'Connell High School located in San Francisco's Mission District. This Spring, I have committed to a fundraising goal of $1,500 to support students towards academic achievement.
Started in the Spring 2016, the MPN Scholarship Fund celebrates four-year, college-bound students who demonstrate financial need, community involvement, and academic achievement with scholarships between $1,500 to $5,000.
My fundraising goal can only be reached with the support of family and friends like you. Can I count on you to support my students in reaching thier college dreams?
