Thank YOU for your Support!

Update posted 6 years ago

The Owl Mews Campaign was our first ever fundraiser on Razoo! We were nervous, but knew with our devoted supporters we would create better enclosures for our many rescued owls.

Now, it's been 2-years since we've built these news homes. Since they've been moved to the quieter end of the property we've: released dozens of rehabbed owls right in our backyard, we have striped owls who are SO happy, they are breeding and we are releasing their offspring. All because we simply can rescue more because of YOU!

Thank you again!

COMPLETED CAMPAIGN

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US BUILD NEW HOMES FOR OUR MANY OWLS!

A More Detailed Summary:

We, Toucan Rescue Ranch, are raising funds to help build mews (enclosures) for owls at our rescue center in Costa Rica. We currently have seven species of owls: Mottled, Bare-Shanked Screech, Striped, Tropical Screech, Black and White, Spectacled and Pygmy owls.

Currently there is one large mews for the spectacled owls. The other species are enclosed in small mews located where there’s a lot of activity. This is due to the growth of animal population at our facility. The site is no longer an adequate location for these nocturnal birds.

About the Owls and the Mews:

These owls have been brought to us by the wildlife ministry and are primarily victims of car accidents, injuries in barbed wire and electrocutions. Many are amputees. These owls play a crucial role in our education program about conservation and living in harmony with our wildlife. They have become ambassadors for owls in Costa Rica where raptors often have a negative stigma.

Owls are predators and territorial, it is important that these beautiful birds have separate mews. The new enclosures will be located at the bottom of the property where it is quiet so they can sleep during the day. We plan to build 10 mews to accommodate the seven species we currently have and the new raptors we are receiving regularly.

The Toucan Rescue Ranch's Story:

The Toucan Rescue Ranch is a licensed rescue facility in Costa Rica and continues to take in all types of rescued birds and animals. Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Technology (MINAET) continues to call on the Ranch to take in severe cases and works closely with the Ranch. We not only rescue animals and birds but also train veterinarians, animal handlers and educate schools and the community about the importance of preserving diversity in our ecosystems.

The Owl Mews Campaign is one of the various examples of the Toucan Rescue Ranch reaching out to make a better life for these animals. Today, you can help us create a better life for these amazing creatures.

We thank you for your time and are excited that you are interested in knowing more about our organization. Please take a minute to review our photos, videos, social media and website for more details about our mission and how you can be part of our animal rescue efforts.
